Dundalk Roads Policing Unit were conducting speed checks across the county yesterday as part of Operation Slowdown, a nationwide initiative aimed at promoting safer driving.
During their checks they detected the driver of a HGV travelling at 80km/h in a 50km/h zone outside a national school in Bellurgan.
