Risteárd Cooper, best known as one-third of comedy phenomenon Après Match, will bring his first-ever solo show, ‘Out of His Head,’ to Drogheda’s Droichead Arts Centre on March 7, promising a night of razor-sharp impressions and absurd comedy for Louth audiences.
The eagerly anticipated tour marks a significant milestone in Cooper's career, offering fans a rare opportunity to experience his exceptional comedic talent in an intimate solo setting. With a career spanning comedy, acting, writing and mimicry, Risteárd Cooper has delighted audiences for more than two decades. As part of Après Match alongside Barry Murphy and Gary Cooke, he helped create a cornerstone of Irish comedy with incisive satire, sell-out live shows and chart-topping DVDs.
His television credits include the critically acclaimed one-man satire The State of Us on RTÉ, the cult travel series Chasing the Lions, and the popular online rugby comedy Rugger Thing released in association with Off The Ball.
As an actor, Cooper's extensive stage career includes the titular role in Uncle Vanya at Smock Alley Theatre ("His comic timing is exceptional, as ever... allows him to flex a different set of acting muscles" Sunday Independent), Henry Higgins in Pygmalion at the Abbey Theatre, and Juno and the Paycock at the National Theatre, London. Screen credits include Quiz, Delicious, No Offence, and feature film Extra Ordinary, with his latest film Fran the Man recently wrapped.
