Creative Spark Print Studio member and artist Great Usaite let the St Brigid inspired chemigram workshop in the Downtown Hub
Creative Spark Print Studio member and Artist Greta Usaite, recently led a St Brigid’s–inspired community chemigram workshop at Downtown Hub, welcoming members of Dundalk Women’s Shed for a shared creative experience rooted in place, tradition and collaboration.
The workshop invited participants to explore chemigram printmaking - a camera- less photographic process - through a collective celebration of St Brigid’s Day.
Using locally gathered plants and accessible, kitchen-safe, plant-based developers, participants created abstract photographic prints through a slow and intuitive process of mark-making and experimentation.
Each chemigram responded to the textures, rhythms and forms of the local landscape, encouraging participants to work hands-on with natural materials while embracing chance and discovery.

Individually created works were later brought together to form a single collective artwork inspired by St Brigid’s cloak — a powerful symbol of creativity, care, renewal and community.
The workshop created space for connection, shared learning and artistic expression, highlighting the role of community-based art practices in fostering wellbeing and creative confidence.
