The New Leaves
The Spirit Store will showcase some of the best up-and-coming talent in the emerging 'new folk' scene in the area on Saturday August 16th.
Headlining the evening are The New Leaves, a contemporary-folk band from Warrenpoint, County Down.
The band has gone from strength to strength since forming in 2023. In that time, they have released their debut album, 'A Sketch of Home', a celebration of the mythology, history, and natural landscape of the Carlingford Lough area.
The band was quickly signed to Corn Crake Records, a new Scottish folk label established by famous Scottish band The Bluebells frontman Ken McKluskey.
The label was established to support and promote modern folk music, bringing it to a wider audience. Upon its release, 'A Sketch of Home' reached number 10 in Scottish Album Charts and number 5 in Indie Album Charts.

The band was then signed to Irish talent agency 'AMA Agency'. The band has toured across Ireland, Scotland, and France, supporting acts such as Paddy Casey, Hermitage Green, and Seamus Fogarty.
The band has been played on several major radio stations such as BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio Ulster, BBC Radio London, Soho Radio, Amazing Radio, Today FM, RTE Radio and Nova.
Their latest single 'Bluebell Woods' is out now. The track is a poetic dedication to the serene woodlands around Carlingford Lough, a place of quiet reflection and deep emotional significance to the band.
With rich harmonies and evocative lyrics, 'Bluebell Woods' continues the band’s tradition of blending personal storytelling with landscapes steeped in myth and memory.
The band will be joined by amazing emerging Dundalk folk singers, Rowan Murphy and Clara Byrne. Both singers are considered to be two of the most promising female voices in the 'new folk' scene blossoming in Ireland.
Tickets available from Spirit Store website. Doors 7.30pm. Tickets €15.
Anyone who purchases a ticket will get a free ticket to The New Leaves 'album #2' showcase later in the year!
