Shinanne Higgins
Louth comedian Shinanne Higgins is packing her bags and heading back to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe later this month with not one but two shows.
Shinanne kicks off her Fringe run on 31st July and will perform right through until 24th August. Her main show, Ten Things They Hate About Me, had a sold-out run during its eight-day debut in Edinburgh last year, so she’s back for a full month this time.
“It’s a solo show about all the reasons why I’m single,” Higgins laughs. “It’s tongue in cheek and pretty rude and out there — it has poetry, it has music, it has everything.”
As well as her solo show, she’ll also be joining forces with fellow Irish comedians Aideen McQueen and Louise O'Toole for Three Bad Sisters, a late-night show with dark humour and a playful nod to Edinburgh’s famous Three Sisters pub. “It’s a take on the dark side of femaleness,” Higgins explains.
Shinanne will also be busy hosting mixed bill shows, giving other comedians a chance to share the stage during the month-long festival.
“Every year there’s a bunch of Irish people who go over, some of them will be there for like a month,” she says.
Once back home, Shinanne plans to take Ten Things They Hate About Me on tour around Ireland, but Dundalk audiences can catch her closer to home first as she’ll be performing at the Accidental Theatre in Belfast on the 26th of this month.
