Diversion routes will be clearly signposted during works, and local and emergency access will be maintained at all times
Louth County Council has announced its intention to temporarily close a number of roads across the county between 12th August 2025 and 11th August 2026. The planned closures, each lasting no more than five days per location, are necessary to carry out essential road strengthening, resurfacing, and safety improvement works.
A total of 15 locations have been listed for works, spanning the Dundalk, Drogheda, and Ardee Municipal Districts. Key routes affected include the Armagh Road (Kilcurry and Carnbeg sections), De La Salle Terrace, Rock Road, Coes Road East, parts of the N52 near Christianstown, and roads in Drumleck and Greenore. In Drogheda, Westgate and Shop Street will see short-term closures, while Artnalivery in Ardee and roads in Knockbridge, Marlbog, Mooreland, and Knockaleva are also scheduled for upgrades.

Diversion routes will be clearly signposted during works, and local and emergency access will be maintained at all times. For safety reasons, a temporary speed limit of 50 km/h will be in effect on all affected roads during the works period.
Residents and road users wishing to object to any of the proposed closures can do so in writing to Mark Johnson, Senior Engineer, Louth County Council, County Hall, Millennium Centre, Dundalk, Co. Louth, or via the council’s Online Consultation Portal. The deadline for objections is 5pm, Tuesday 29th July 2025.
