The visitors got off to a flying start in this Louth GAA Paddy Sheelan Cup Group 3 clash as they found the net in the opening minutes to take an early grip on the game.

In a low-scoring half, the Emmets added three points to their tally to lead by 1-3 to 0-3 at the break with Tom Gray (2p) and Sean Healy on target for the hosts.

The Tullyallen men made a strong start to the second half with two quick points before adding a second goal to open up a 2-5 to 0-4 advantage after 40 minutes.

Although the Emmets managed just one further point, it proved enough to hold off a late rally from the Mairtins. Points from Adam Booth and Dan Harmon helped cut the gap, while an injury-time goal from Sean Healy came too late to save the game.

The Ardee men had lost their opening game in Group 4 of the Paddy Mullen Shield against Roche Emmets, but were always in control as they emerged with a ten-point victory.

It was a tough first half for the hosts with St Mary's taking some good scores, including a Luke Keenan goal, while Ruairi McCann and John Gallagher pointed at the other end to leave the half-time score 1-7 to 0-2 for the visitors.

The second half followed a similar trend, with scores coming from John Gallagher and Arthur Sands while Stephen Bingham claimed a goal and a point to close the deficit.

Sean O’Mahonys 2-11 O Raghallaighs 1-8

Sean O’Mahonys bounced back from their midweek defeat at the hands of Kilkerley Emmets with a hard-fought victory over O Raghallaighs at the GAA Grounds on Sunday morning in Group 6 of the Paddy Sheelan Cup.

It wasn’t looking good for the visitors at halftime as they held a slender one-point lead, having played with the advantage of the elements. However, an impressive second-half showing saw them pick up a first win of the campaign.

After Gareth Hall opened the scoring for the Seans, his side took control of the game, and a Mark Agnew goal helped them take a 1-4 to no score lead.

However, the Raghs rallied, and a goal from Joshua Moore saw them cut the gap to 1-5 to 1-4 at halftime.

The Drogheda men were expected to kick on in the second half, but it was the O’Mahonys who raised their game, and a goal from Kayden Fisher sealed a deserved victory.

Stabannon Parnells 2-8 Dundalk Gaels 1-9

Stabannon Parnells made it two wins from two in Group 8 of the Paddy Sheelan Cup when they defeated Dundalk Gaels at The Ramparts on Thursday night.

Both teams went into the game on the back of victories over Newtown Blues, but in a closely contested affair, it was the visitors who came out on top as second-half goals from Charlie McBride and Conor Clinton proved crucial.

Although the sides chalked up some big scores in their opening games, the first half proved to be a cagey affair that ended with the hosts leading by 0-6 to 0-3.

However, it was Stabannon who raised their game in the second half and were rewarded with goals from Clinton and McBride to put themselves in a strong position, on a night when Patrick Reynolds, Cillian Lynch and Colm Giggins were also on target.

Tom O’Connell found the net for the Gaels to add to his four points, but it wasn’t enough to see his side take anything from the encounter. Cian Mulligan, James O’Connell and Conor McDonnell added points for the Dundalk men.

Stabannon Parnells: Ryan Halpenny; Aaron Dunne, Mark Byrne, Daragh Murray; Johnnie McGee, Colm Giggins0-2, Jake Corrigan; Patrick Reynolds 0-1, Alan Reynolds; Shane Brady, Conor Clinton 1-0, Tadgh Gorman; Cillian Lynch 0-1, Charlie McBride 1-4, Padraig Reynolds.
