Quay Celtic 4 Shamrocks 1
Quay Celtic continued their climb up the U16 league table after a convincing 4-1 win over Shamrocks on Sunday afternoon.
The victory gave Quay their fifth win of the campaign from six games and they now share third place with Shamrocks and St. Dominic's, who surprisingly defeated last week’s leaders Bellurgan 2-0 in Bellurgan thanks to goals from Jack Conlon and Alex McGorrian.
Bellurgan are now in second place with 16 points from eight games, while Dromin Juveniles went to the top of the table on 18 points from nine games after a narrow 2-1 home win over Ardee Celtic on Sunday morning.
However, at Clancy Park, Quay dominated the opening-half with twin strikers Thomas Daly and Keith Dollard creating havoc in the Shamrocks defence.
A Ryan McDonnell free-kick gave them an early lead and two goals from top-scorer Daly gave the hosts a 3-0 cushion at half-time.
Niall Brady produced an outstanding triple save for Quay early in the second-half as an improved Shamrocks looked for a way back before Taylor Murphy reduced the deficit after 10-minutes.
But Daly ended the game as a contest when he scored from the penalty spot after the same player was fouled to complete his hat-trick and seal the three-points.
