Young Louth athletes compete at Leinster even ages and Novice Cross Country Championships

Athletes from St. Peters AC travelled to Gowran, Co Kilkenny to take part in Leinster even ages and Novice Cross Country Championships
The village of Gowran in Co. Kilkenny was the venue for Leinster even ages and Novice Cross Country Championships on Saturday last. The weather couldn’t dampen the spirits of enthusiastic St Peter’s AC athletes.
St Peter’s AC best performer was Colm Duff, who ran in the U14 race and battled from start to finish to finish in sixth place. Colm is still U13 and will be competitive in his own age group in two weeks.
Having already won both the U13 and U14 Louth Championships, this fine young athlete will be a force to reckon with this season.
The day started with a non-championship U10 race; Patrick Kelly, who is still under eight, had a very strong run in the boys' race. The first Championship race was the girls' U12 race.
The St Peter’s club had two athletes compete, both acquitting themselves very well over the 2000M course; Aoibhe Kelly and Aoife Foley both gained valuable experience.
The girls under fourteen race was a really tough battle, and once again St Peter’s had two athletes compete, with both having really strong performances, with both Ella Murphy and Anna Kelly giving their all, with both scoring athletes on the Louth team, which took Gold in the inter-county competition.
The last of the St Peter’s athletes competing was Donal Foley in the boys U16race. Donal moved up in age from U15 and put in a brave performance to finish well up the big field of athletes.
