Round Up | DDL Premier & First Division

DDL Fyffes Premier Division

Rock Celtic 0-1 Muirhevnamor FC

Venue: Sandy Lane. Date: 23.7.24.

Rock Celtic really put it up to league leaders Muirhevnamor matching them in fitness and skill in a fast paced encounter. A debatable penalty decision by referee Paddy White in the 69th minute settled the outcome, when Micky O'Kane dispatched it to the net.

The away side were struggling to get a grip on affairs until they switched Tiernan Mulvenna from goalkeeping to midfielder. The switch made it a more balanced encounter, but Rocks wastefulness in front of the goal contributed to yet an other defeat.

Credit must go to both teams providing a good match laced with some excellent skills from outstanding players. The Blues remain unbeaten after six games played, with 18 points, nine ahead of Shamrocks their only threat. They have to meet twice before the season ends.

Carrick Rovers 0-7 Rampart Celtic

Venue: Carrick. Date: 23.7.24.

The home side had no answer to the free scoring Sean Bailey, who racked up the highest individual score by any player in both divisions this seasons, notching a double hattrick for Rampart. He now has scored 22 goals in all competitions. Ryan Watters with his second strike this term also got on the score sheet.

Bellurgan United 1-3 Carlingford Celtic

Venue: Flynn Park. Date: 23.7.24.

A packed Flynn Park was treated to a battle royal between neighbouring clubs in a top of the table clash. Bellurgan drew first blood, Stephen Finnegan giving them the lead. Goals from Ciaran Clarke and Peter Shields saw the visitors take a half time lead.

Bellurgan's cause was not helped by having two of their players sent off. In the second half, a goal from Declan Sheeling settled the outcome in Carlingford's favour.

The Ford, with a game less played are three points behind leaders Bellurgan who have 25 points from 12 games.

Rampart who have one League game left can possibly reach 26 points but both other challengers, Bellurgan 25 points and Carlingford's 22 points have three and four games respectively to play.

Faughart Rovers 2-3 Square United

Venue: Lumpers. Date: 24.7.24.

This match had to be switched to Ardee at the last minute from the Lumpers. The change did not seem ti effect Faugharts Cathal Manning who netted a brace to make him the clubs top scorer this season, with 8 goals.

It was not enough to deny Square victory who replied with 3 goals. James O'Conor bagged a brace taking him to 5 for the season and Benny Osborne got his first of the campaign Square join Carrick on 14 points in midtable.
