CúChulainn Archers enjoyed a successful weekend at the 2026 NI and Open Field Championships at Greenmount Campus, hosted by Ballyvalley Archers, with Alan Convery and Mat Latimer among the gold medal winners
Archers from CúChulainn were in competition this weekend at the 2026 NI and Open Field Championships at the Greenmount Campus, hosted by Ballyvalley Archers, Banbridge.
A lovely weekend to compete in the woods, and the archers took full advantage of the good weather and great surroundings.
Competing for CúChulainn Archers were Alan Convery, Gilbert McClelland, Philip Fitzpartick, Darrel Wilson, Mark Young, Andy Tait and Mat Latimer with the following results:
Alan Convery, Compound Master Men, was in the lead on day one and continued in that place - despite the concerted efforts of his fellow club members - on the second day, finishing in first place and taking home the Gold medal.
Gilbert McCelland, Compound Master Men, came second and took the Silver medal - by just one point – from Philip Fitzpatrick, Compound Master Men, who came third and took the Bronze medal. A nice clean sweep by CúChulainn Masters Men.
Darrel Wilson, Compound Senior Men, came third, taking the Bronze medal. Mark Young, Barebow Master Men, Bronze medal. Mat Latimer took Gold in the Longbow Men category.
Also in competition at the NI Civil Service World Record WA 18 in the Belfast Royal Academy was CúChulainn's Andy Tait. Shooting in the Barebow Master Category, Andy came second, taking the Silver medal.
A good weekend for our archers with medals galore - two gold, two silver, and three bronze.
