Louth archers aim for glory in multiple competitions
CúChulainn Archers were on the road again this weekend
Andy Tait, Neil Keeble, Adria Quinn, Dolores Burke, Lisa Burke, Bridget Clarke, Mary Clarke, Lucía García Morán, William Burke and John Bellew were all in competition, different competitions, different places.
First up was Andy Tait, who was at the Muckamore Company of Archers UK Record Status Portsmouth Competition in Ballyclare, Co. Antrim - just thirteen miles from Belfast.
Competing in the Masters Barebow Category, Andy shot very well, coming away with the Gold medal.
Some miles further south, Neil Keeble was competing in the Wicklow Winter League, Leg Three. Neil shot the best score of the entire league so far and also won a Silver medal as he missed out on the Gold medal today in a shoot-off by just one point.
Back northwards we go to Drumquin in Co. Tyrone for another competition.
Here Adria Quinn, Dolores Burke, Lisa Burke, William Burke, Bridget Clarke, Mary Clarke, Lucía García Morán and John Bellew competed on Saturday, and some returned to compete again on Sunday.
This very popular and well-run competition was an indoor 3D round consisting of 8 lanes with 5 3D targets in each lane, shot in the morning and again in the afternoon, making it 80 targets all told.
A great atmosphere surrounded the shoot, with Halloween costumes decorating some of the 3D's - and some of the Archers, too.
Results were (Saturday): Adria Quinn, Adult Female Freestyle Unlimited, Gold; Lisa Burke, Adult Female BareBow Recurve, Silver; Bridget Clarke, Masters Female BareBow, Gold; Mary Clarke, Adult Female Barebow, Gold; Lucía García Morán.
Adult Female Barebow Recurve, Silver; Dolores Burke, Adult Female BareBow Recurve, Fourth; William Burke, Adult Male BareBow Recurve, Bronze; John Bellew, Adult Male Barebow, Silver.
All then returned on Sunday, where their results were: Adria Quinn, Adult Female Barebow Recurve, Gold; William Burke, Adult Male Barebow Recurve, Gold; Lisa Burke, Adult Female Barebow Recurve, Gold; Dolores Burke, Adult Female Barebow Recurve, Bronze.
All agreed that it was a great way to spend a stormy weekend. CúChulainn Archers holds Beginner Courses throughout the year. Enquiries to [email protected]
