Dundalk and District League round-up

Glenmuir United 2-2 Shamrock F.C | Hoey's Lane | 24/8/26

Glenmuir United and Shamrock F.C. played out a very enjoyable mid-table clash at Hoey's Lane, which finished all square at two goals apiece. It took until the 45th minute before Barry O'Hare broke the deadlock with a well-taken score.

Ten minutes into the second half, Andy McDermott with a headed goal brought the home side level.

On 72 minutes, O'Hare beat the offside trap to race clear and chip the advancing Glenmuir keeper to put the visitors 2-1 ahead; this was Barry O'Hare's 13th goal this season. Mark Molloy levelled the sides in the 80th minute with his 9th strike so far.

In the last minute, the Glens gave away a penalty, allowing O'Hare to complete his hat-trick, but Glenmuir keeper Daniel Adegbuyega made a superb save from the well-struck kick to earn his side a point, and for the first time this season he was the man of the match.

Carrick Rovers 2-4 Square United | Carrick | 25/8/26

Square travelled to Carrick and completed a league double over the home side. In a game they won 4-2, and again they proved too strong for the team on the Ballybay Road.

Arthur Sands' brace of goals took him to 25 for the season, putting him six goals ahead of Coran Lyndsey, who will still harbour his chances of topping the scorers list.

Ken McKenna and Martin Duffy both reached seven goals in this match. Carrick's goals were scored by Wayne Kerley and Cillian Gartland.

Haynestown Celtic 4-2 Carlingford Celtic | DKIT | 26/8/16

Carlingford's grip on their League Title won last year is slipping after this defeat to Haynestown at the DK grounds. Dwayne Markey put the home side ahead from a perfectly executed free kick in the 27th minute.

Richard Branigan brought the teams level with his 2nd goal this season in the 35th minute; just minutes later, Markey practically walked the ball into the net to restore the home side's lead.

Early in the second half, Sahnoon Buye scored his eighth goal this term to extend his side's lead. Joe Dunne, with a deft flick, gave the league leaders some hope of at least drawing the match with 15 minutes remaining.

Markey completed his hat-trick in the 86th minute to inflict a damaging result on Carlingford.

Faughart Rovers 1-5 Rampart Celtic 5| Ravensdale | 26/8/16

Sean Bailey hit four goals for Rampart in this one-sided rout of Faughart. He shot up to second in the goalscorers list with 19 goals, six behind leader Arthur Sands.

Brendan Rogers got on Rampart's scoring list with his fifth strike this season. Conard Quinn got the lone reply for Faughart.

Parkside F.C. 1-5 Muirhevnamor FC | Gills Park | 27/8/16

Muirhevnamor cut Carlingford's lead to just three points, with just a few games left to play. Micky O'Kane got his 12th goal of the season to send them on to a comfortable victory.

Daniel Duffy netted a brace, while Liam Reed and Kyle Carroll each got on the score sheet. Mohamed Ahmed got Parkside's consolation goal, his second of the season.
