Cycle against Suicide

The Cycle against Suicide will start in Dublin on April and travel along the coast to promote awareness ( and on the final day-Sunday May 5th hundreds of cyclists will cycle (11am) from Dundalk to Ardee (12noon) where they will stop for lunch at Ardee Community School, who have agreed to open specially for this worthy cause on this May bank holiday weekend. The Ardee Traders & Business Association together with Ardee Cycling Club will assist the Community School, and we would be grateful for any volunteers to help us out. Creative Writing

The Creative Writing Course under the auspices of Reaghstown Community Alert with teacher Mary Toft from the VEC will recommence on Tuesday April 9th 10am to 12noon. The sessions are free and it isn’t too late to join in.

Belfast Trip

The People’s Club for the Actively Retired are planning a day trip to Belfast on Wednesday May 22nd. This trip costs €59 and is open to everyone. The coach will depart from Dooley’s of Edmondstown car park at 9am, there will be tea and scones in Sportsman Inn before departing for Belfast where we will visit the Titanic Museum followed by a guided tour of Belfast. Then there will be some free time for shopping in Belfast City. We will return to Sportsman Inn for a 2 course meal and arrive back home at 9pm approximately. All this is covered by the €59 price. Everyone is welcome but prompt booking is essential as places are limited to 40 with Peoples Club members having first choice. The People’s Club has just learned of the death of their colleague and club member Kitty Sharkey, Ardee and late of Reaghstown and the members extend their heartfelt sympathy to her daughter and sons.

Community Games Athletic Training

Community Games Athletic training for the parish of Reaghstown/Tallanstown/Clonkeen are now in session on every Friday evening in the Westerns Pitch from 6pm to 7pm weekly from the age of 6yrs to 15yrs, weather permitting. The training sessions are fully supervised and Insured by County Louth Community Games Committee members.

The Westerns are going West!! Saturday 13th/Sunday 14th of April will mark a special occasion when a limited number of 20 fit/not so fit enthusiastic people will cycle from Ballinasloe to Reaghstown in aid of the Westerns GFC Clubroom fund.
