The Walk Peer Programme is a new programme recently set up in Louth to support young people aged 16-24 years in receipt of a disability payment to access mainstream employment, education and training.

Kilkerley Emmets 25 week lotto draw, week 8 had a Jackpot of €4,100 of which there was no winner. Numbers drawn were: 11, 16, 22, 23. Interviews for Gaeltacht Scholarships will take place Saturday May 11, in Louth GAA Centre of Excellence, Darver commencing at 10.00am. There are five U-14 and five U-16 scholarships available to successful applicants for Coláiste Bhríde, Rann na Feirste and other Coláistí, sponsored by An Coiste Chondae, CLG. Applicants must have an interest in the Irish language and be recommended by their local GAA Club. It is essential that consent of parents/ guardians be confirmed for applications to be accepted. Completed forms must be returned by Friday 3rd May. Forms should be forwarded to Suzanne Ní Mharcaigh, or posted to 9 Matson Lodge, Droichead Átha, Contae Lú.

A special parish fundraising concert will take place in the Church this Friday evening April 26, to support the group of young people from the parish Niall McEnteggart, Neil Mulholland and Aimee Crawford (along with Fr. Gerry) who hope to travel to Brazil in July to work with SERVE: Solidarity in Action. The organisers are anxious to hear fromt individuals or group acts who would like to be part of the programme. SERVE: Solidarity 
in Action

Four teams of five (incl. Fr. Gerry) will take part in the Belfast City marathon on Monday May 6. We would be grateful to any and all who would promote our cause by taking Sponsorship Cards. These are available in the sacristy and the Parochial House. All proceeds towards the North Louth Serve Team who will travel to N.W. Brazil in July to work with local people on a house building project for the poor. The trip will conclude with World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro in the company of Pope Francis. Please give what you can afford.

Bowls AGM

There was a very good attendance of members at the Annual General Meeting of Kilkerley Bowling Club, held in the Community & Enterprise Centre on Wednesday April 17. A lively discussion took place on Club activities during the past season. The Triples and Pairs Open Tournaments were very successful, with weekly Wednesday Club nights well attended all season and members competed in lots of Oriel Zone Competitions and Tournaments organised by other Bowling Clubs. The Club enjoyed taking part in Division 2 of the 10’s League though without much success. Our own Club Leagues will be finalised over the next few weeks so members are asked to attend weekly to play for the Open Singles, Ladies Singles, Pairs & Triples titles. Darren Litchfield has already won the Juvenile title, defeating Neil Mulholland and Gearoid Cronin. The election of Officers & Committee was as follows; Chairman :- Donal Quigley; Vice- Chairman: - Tom McCreesh; Secretary :- Kathleen Sharkey; Assistant Secretary:- Alice Lennon; Treasurer :- Peter Rust; Assistant Treasurer:- Gerry McElroy; P.R.O:- Kathleen Sharkey; Selectors :- Tom Mulholland, Sean Duffy and Alice Lennon. The winners of the recent Open Pairs Tournament for the “John Mulligan Perpetual Cup” were Fra Dillon & Benny McCabe, Redeemer/Lordship. Membership fees for the 2013/2014 season are now due. New members are needed so why not give Bowls a try.

Bowls continue each Wednesday night at 7.45pm in the Community Centre.

Dancing in Centre

Dancing in the Community Centre this Sunday night April 28 with music by Footsteps. Michael Cleary and Briege Kelly play on May 5, Blue Magic on May 12, Housty on May 19 and Showbud on May 26, Country Pride on June 2, Curtis Magee on June 9, Brian McDermott on June 16, Country Traditions on June 23 and J&S Sound on June 30. Dancing from 9.30pm to 12.30am.


The Club need adult female volunteer Leaders so if you are interested please contact the Club and full training will be provided. Activity for members each Friday night from 8.30pm in the Community Centre.

Pilgrimage to Lourdes

Pilgrimage takes place this year from May 12 to May 17. Fare is €680 which includes Flights, Insurance, transfers, accommodation and all your food. All pilgrims will need a valid Passport and E111. As part of preparations for this year’s Pilgrimage to Lourdes Mass will be celebrated in Kilkerley Church on Monday May 6, at 7.30 p.m. All Pilgrims, Workers, Youth and their families are invited to this Mass as are Pilgrims and Workers from previous years which is a way to keep up contact with the group. After Mass a short meeting will be held in the Community Centre to finalise arrangements.

Fatima Pilgrimage

This Pilgrimage takes place from June 20 to June 27, 2013 costing €699 per person sharing, including all meals and insurance. Single room supplement €15 per night. Further details from Fr. Gerry Campbell PP.

Emmet’s GFC

Club lotto jackpot was €4,100 this week. The senior team got a good start in the main league winning 0-11 to 1-7 away to Blues. Shane Lennon 0-7, Cathal Bellew 0-2, Shaun McElroy 0-1 and the winning point came from Conaill McGeough. The rest of senior league games schedule is as follows – Gaels (H) this Friday April 26, O’Raghaillighs(A), Plunkets (H), St Pats (A), Martins (H), Cooley (A), Dreadnots (H), Sean O’Mahoneys (A), Mattock Rangers (H). Des Lennon got his junior side off with a home win 1-11 to 1-4 against Lannleire with Conall McEneany 1-3, Ciaran Clarke 0-3, Neill Mulholland 0-2, Ray Mulholland 0-2, Micheal McGeown 0-1.They play away this evening Tuesday April23 to Plunkets at 7.00pm and on Sunday morning next at home to Piarsaighs. The U- 12 team played on Friday last away to Pats and on Friday May 10 are away to Gaels. The U-14 team won at home to St Fechins 5-6 to 4-1 with Morgan McCaughey hitting 3-1, Ultan McEneany 2-2, Jamie Doherty, Darren Geoghegan and Tadgh Litchfield 0-1 each, also doing well were Craig Murtagh, Ciaran McGlynn, Ciaran Lennon and Niall Jackson. Summer Cul Camps take place in Kilkerley and Knockbridge from July 22 to July 26 and in Roche from July 29 to August 2.
