Woman caught by gardai driving on the wrong side of the road in Dundalk

A business woman who was driving on the wrong side of the road as she approached a Garda patrol car on Hoey's Lane, was convicted of careless driving at Dundalk district court last week.
Court presenter Sgt. Jimmy McGovern outlined how gardaí were not satisfied with the details given at the side of the road by Idayat Ogbara (57) of Clontygora Court, Dundalk and they suspected she had given false information.
The court heard the defendant, who was not in court as she is presently in Nigeria, admitted having no insurance and careless driving.
The Defence explained that Ms. Ogbara has lived in this country a number of years and runs her own business selling fabrics.
At the time her insurance had lapsed, on the date of the offence July 31st last, as she had returned to Nigeria to care for her mother.
Judge Gerry Jones imposed a €300 fine each for both the careless driving and no insurance charges but did not disqualify the defendant from driving.
