Culture Shock take to the stage on Saturday night
There is plenty of live music in Toales on Crowe Street in Dundalk again this weekend.
Friday 9th August White Noise + Rowan Murphy + Bedside Community. Doors 8pm, admission €10
White Noise debut in Toales Live Venue as part of the band's first national tour to promote their debut single.
This Dublin-based four-piece doom-folk band, lead by Caden Condron and Caroline Farrell, with guitarist Oisin Reilly and bassist Karol Furmańczyk, have been favorably compared to Lankum, ØXN, and John Francis Flynn, due to their reimagining of classic Irish folk, creating an atmospheric musical experience like no other.
And the very best of support acts on the night are on offer - the outstanding Dundalk indie-folk singer/songwriter Rowan Murphy and the post-punk, lo-fi, indie electro sounds of Bedside Community.
Saturday 10th August – Culture Shock + The Gakk + Nixed + Your Best Nightmare - doors 8pm, tickets €12
It is an honour to welcome back to Dundalk the original English anarcho ska-punk-reggae fusioneers, the mighty Culture Shock.
Formed by Subhumans' Dick Lucas, over their four year history from 86 - 89, the band played hundreds of gigs, including frequent appearances at free festivals, and released three studio albums on the Bluurg record label.
Lucas’ lyrics were mostly concerned with social and political issues, from cruelty to animals, Northern Ireland, war, and social alienation, but were far from angry rants, often finding a positive and empowering perspective.
Culture Shock split at the end of 1989, as Bill and Nige both had young families to support.
Dick went on to form Citizen Fish with Jasper, the bassist on Culture Shock’s final album, and two other former members of the Subhumans.
Thankfully Culture Shock have reformed since 2013, with another three albums released since then- onwards!
Support on the night comes from Dundalk's The Gakk who have just returned from Blackpool's Rebellion Punk Festival, California's hardcore punk band Nixed, and all the way from New Jersey, Your Best Nightmare.
This is a punk night not to be missed!!
