Met Éireann extends status yellow ice warning to Louth

Met Éireann have upgraded a snow and ice weather warning to now cover the entire country, including Louth.

The updated status yellow weather warning was issued at around 11am this Friday morning, after snowy and icy conditions brought major disruption to counties in the east and north.

According to the Met Éireann warning, a band of rain will continue to move southwards, turning to sleet and snow in places.

Potential impacts will include: "icy stretches on untreated surfaces, poor visibility and hazardous travelling conditions".

The warning is valid from 6pm, Friday March 1 to 9am, Saturday March 2.

In addition, a status yellow snow and ice warning was issued for Munster and many other eastern counties, with blankets of snow and arctic weather falling overnight in many places.
