Hill Street Bridge works near completion in Dundalk

A further full closure of Hill Street Bridge is scheduled for 9am on Monday
Upgrade works on Dundalk’s Hill Street Bridge are nearing completion, with a series of road closures planned over the coming days to facilitate the final phase of the project.
The works began with the closure of Hill Street Bridge to all traffic from 5pm today, Thursday, August 27, as overnight works are carried out.
During the closure, diversions will be in place on the R132 Dublin Road and R172 Avenue Road.
From 7am on Friday, August 28, access to Hill Street Bridge will be restored from the Avenue Road junction and will remain available throughout the weekend.
However, a closure will remain in place on the R132 Dublin Road between Hill Street Car Wash and the former Crosson’s Garage. Diversions will operate for the duration of the weekend.
A further full closure of Hill Street Bridge is scheduled for 9am on Monday, August 31, to allow contractors to complete the switch-over to the new traffic lights.
Diversions will again be in place on the R132 Dublin Road and R172 Avenue Road while this work is carried out.
Local access will be maintained throughout the works.
It is expected that Hill Street Bridge will be fully reopened to traffic from Tuesday, September 1.
