Can one man truly make that much of a difference? It seems eminently so.
Mesut Ozil was seen as the second coming by many Arsenal fans; the majority of which would probably have agreed a player of his type wasn’t exactly needed seeing as Arsene Wenger already had an embarrassment of riches in the attacking midfield department.
And yet the signing of the German international seems to have injected this Arsenal squad with a giant amount confidence. It’s as if his presence – a genuine world class star - has given the rest of the players the belief that they can beat anybody.
It’s a prime example of what pushing the boat out and paying big money can do for the state of mind of a football club and its staff.
Arsenal - at the minute - look like the side to beat.
