Ireland aren’t blessed with a lot of genuinely talented players these days but in Everton duo, Seamus Coleman and James McCarthy, they have two supremely gifted players.
Is there a better right back in the Premier League than Coleman right now? I’m not sure there is, frankly.
The Donegal native seems to be getting better and better and his performances this season under new manager, Roberto Martinez have been as explosive as they have been exemplary.
There were some raised eyebrows when Everton splashed £13 million on the former Hamilton starlet but McCarthy’s performances under Martinez - at Wigan, and now at Everton – are the hallmarks of a midfielder that belie his age. At just 23, he’s already one of the best midfielders in the league and at the Emirates against Arsenal on Sunday, dictated play against one of the best midfields in Europe.
Knowing these two will be pulling on the green jersey for years to come is a comforting feeling, indeed.
