Spring League heating up at Tennis Club

Dundalk Tennis Club Spring league is at the business end with only two weeks left and players scrambling for positions as they try and gain promotion to the next level or save themselves from relegation. This is the first time that this format has been tried and it really has created a stir with the participants. All matches have become very competitive as a game here and there could make all the difference.

Four of last week’s matches were decided on the tie break game. In the men’s section on line two Martin Bannon, Jack Young, Dermot Mc Elroy and Jim Burlingham contested one of these with Martin and Jack Shading it with the single game. This section is one of the tightest in the league with very little between the eight men involved.

The highest scores in the men’s doubles this week were 15 points shared between Mark Rooney, Stanley Wilson, Donal Mc Geough and Michael Mc Dermott. In the ladies doubles Suzanne Rogers & Theresa Reape achieved a very creditable 17 points.

Dundalk Tennis Club are holding a singles open which will be run over two weekends on April 20, 21 ,22 and April 27, 28 and 29 April. Closing date .This event is being kindly sponsored by Kevin Commins, KC Deli.
