Louth GAA’s county grounds committee are in talks with Dundalk Retail Park chiefs over the purchase of another parcel of land off the Inner Relief Road.
The plot of approximately one-and-a-half acres, added to the land acquired from the County Council and leased from DkIT, could take the entire site to over 14 acres.
Discussions have recently got underway and it is hoped that an agreement can be reached early in the new year, before any initial work begins.
“The extra acre-and-a-half would make a massive difference,” committee member Peter Fitzpatrick TD told The Democrat.
“The land from the County Council is not too far off 10 acres, it’s over three acres from DkIT and there is also the possibility of land from the Retail Park.
“I want to emphasise that no-one has any kind of land or vested interest in this as has been alleged by other people.
“The only interest the people on this committee have is for Louth GAA.”
