Bellurgan United 2-2 Rock Celtic
Aidan Curtin scored for the second week in a row as Rock Celtic earned a point from their derby fixture away to Bellurgan United on Sunday.
The left-winger struck with a minute to go, securing Paudie Gollogley’s side their fifth point of the season after Bellurgan had come from behind to lead courtesy of striker Ciarán Sheelan’s double.
Rock took the lead before the end of the opening quarter when Éanna McArdle’s free-kick deceived Robert Arthur in the Bellurgan goal.
Chances were traded in the first half and on the balance of play, Bellurgan could have been level by half-time. Indeed, Simon O’Shaughnessy really ought to have drawn Colm McConville’s side on terms having shot over from close range.
Penalty appeals from both sides were waved away by referee Colin Halligan as the tension built.
However, Bellurgan turned the match around with two goals from Sheelan which will fall into the scrappy category. Nonetheless, they had the Flynn Park men on course for a second successive victory.
That was until teenage winger Curtin pounced to level in the dying embers.
A point both will be happy with, though either side could have claimed the maximum return.
