Drew Duffy's late goal looks to have been in vain as Friday night's Premier Division meeting of Kingscourt Harps and Quay Celtic was abandoned with 93-minutes on the clock.

The winger struck home sweetly with seven-minutes to play as Quay looked set to earn a hard-fought win against the league's strugglers. However, a late melee saw two players from either side get their marching orders, with Martin Smith and David Redmond seeing red for Quay.

The match looked set to finish, but another exchange along the Kingscourt sideline resulted in the referee calling a halt to play despite the game being effectively at an end.

Smith had put Quay in front in the first-half, following in to score after Vinny Smith's distant drive was parried away by the home 'keeper.

It was reward for the Point Road men's good first-half, but they were caught after the break as a defensive mistake resulted in Harps pulling level.

Duffy looked to have saved the day having struck a breaking ball to the top-corner , though a decision over the outcome of the match now lies with the NEFL

Quay Celtic: John Rogers; Seán Hand, Dean Sheil, Gary Shevlin, Stephen Hutchinson; David Redmond, Conall McArdle, Éanna McArdle, Drew Duffy; Vinny Smith, Martin Smith
