The Louth U-17 intercounty badminton team finished 2nd in Division 3 of the Leinster Championship this season after losing out to a strong Carlow team. Next up for Louth is the U-15 team who will be in action on Sunday, 7th April.

Last season was the most successful season for the county in a long time with the Senior Grade 3 team becoming Leinster champions, beating neighbours Meath 4-3 in the final.

This was Louth's first title at Grade 3 level in twelve years as they went on to beat Waterford 6-3 in an All-Ireland semi-final, before coming up just short in the All-Ireland final, losing 4-5 to Galway in a closely contested affair.

That Grade 3 team have made a number additions to the lineup from last season and have progressed out of the Leinster qualifiers again this season.

They lost 3-6 to Dublin, but rallied a come back to beat Kildare 5-4 and Carlow 5-4 which were held in Bray on 25th February. They will now face Meath in the Leinster semi-final on 24th March.

The Grade 6 team were also successful in making it out their qualifying group, with matches against Wicklow and Kildare which were held in Kildalkey, Co. Meath, under the stewardship of Jim Callan who is a longtime Louth badminton stalwart.

The Grade 6 team will be back in action on the 24th March in their much anticipated Leinster semi-final game.

Louth entered teams represented by players from close to all the clubs in the Wee County, into Grades 3, 4, 5 and 6. The teams from 4 and 5 fell narrowly short from making it out of their qualifying groups.
