Cooley Kickhams sealed the Division 2 league title thanks to a comfortable victory over St Kevins at Darver on Sunday morning.

Given the events of the last few weeks there is no doubt that the taste of victory will be all the sweeter for the peninsula side who can look forward to a return to top flight football next season.

Despite a relatively close first half, Cooley were rarely threatened in this clash and in the end eased to an eight-point victory.
Michael Rafferty and Cian Connor did most of the damage in terms of scoring as they finished with four points apiece for a Cooley side that were leading by 0-5 to 0-2 at the break.

Ronan McBride, Gerry Malone and Paul Brennan were also on the scoresheet, while Cian Callan (2), Cameron Maher, Darren McMullen and Lee Crosbie replied for the Kevins.

The result means that the final league game on Thursday night between Kilkerley Emmets and Roche Emmets will decide who will take on St Brides in the promotion/relegation play-off.

COOLEY KICKHAMS: Neil Gallagher; Ronan McBride 0-1, Dean McGreehan, Gerry Malone 0-1; Eoin McDaid, Darren Marks, Paul Brennan 0-1; Fergal Malone, Peter Thornton; Michael Carron 0-1, Enda O’Neill 0-1, James O’Reilly; Cian Connor 0-4, Michael Rafferty 0-4, Richard Brennan.

Subs: Patrick Hanlon, Callum O’Hanlon, Gerard White, Ian Arnold, Declan Sheehan.
