Premier Division side Bellurgan United advanced to the quarter-final of the U10 Cathal Mulholland Cup after this comfortable away victory over Division One side Bay United.
The away side were buzzing from the start and were soon two goals up when Ronan McDonald and Alex Gregory netted in the first ten minutes.
It got even better for Bellurgan when Gerard Hanlon slotted home to make it 0-3.
Bay Utd tried to recover from their bad start and Michael Achums went close early in the second-half but he was denied by a good save from Shane Rogan. The Bellurgan goalkeeper’s long kick out was chased by Caoimhin O’Neill who promptly stroked the ball home for Bellurgan’s fourth goal. Gerard Hanlon quickly added a fifth goal.
Bay United, to their credit, kept battling and rallied for the remainder of the game and deservedly scored two goals through Kyle Duncan and Michael Achums.
And they should have scored a third goal but Kyle Schiavone’s penalty kick was brilliantly saved by Shane Rogan.
