Quay Celtic are still looking for their first win of the season as Barry Keran’s men made it five games without a win after a 6-2 defeat against last season’s league runners-up, Duleek, at Clancy Park on Friday night.
A badly depleted and very much inexperienced Quay started brightly and a couple of efforts from Shane McKenna and Paul Martin tested the visiting goalkeeper.
On 20 minutes the visitors went in front following a mix up in the home defence and they added three further goal before the break to effectively finish the game as a contest.
Five minutes into the second half Simon O’Shaughnessy converted a spot kick after he was brought to ground as he attempted to create an opportunity in the Duleek penalty area but the home side’s relief at getting on target was short lived as the visitors scored to make it 5-1.
Quay again found the target when Niall McLoughlin was the architect for Sean McErlean to score but, again, the Point Road side’s joy was dampened as Duleek added a sixth goal before the final whistle.
Quay Celtic: Mark Casey, Barry McKenna, Gavin Donnelly, Niall McLoughlin, Simon O’Shaughnessy, Paul Martin, Sean McErlean, Stefan Zlokapa, Denys Cholach, Barry Walsh.
