Ardee Celtic advanced to the next round of the Tully Cup on Friday night with a home win over Division One strugglers Kingscourt Harps.

However, John Flanagan’s men had to come from behind after some loose play resulted in Kingscourt finding a way past Stuart Reynolds.

But the Deesiders soon recovered with Tristan Knowles heading narrowly over before, just five minutes after going behind, Darryn Gaynor nodded the winners back on level terms.

That was how it remained at half-time before Ardee took control in the second half, going in front for the first time on 61 minutes when striker Bryan O’Connor continued his promising start to the season by registering just seconds after rattling the goalframe.

The Cavan side pressed for a leveller as full-time approached, but were made to pay when Gaynor bagged his second goal of the outing, again heading past the Kingscourt ‘keeper.
