On Friday last Ardee/Dundalk played under lights in Dundalk against local rivals Boyne and Derek Williams was the hero for the local side, scoring a late try for the local side.
Ardee/Dundalk had a great start to the match, scoring a try almost immediately when they ran a ball from their own 22 to send Eoin O’Malley over the line for a 5-0 lead.
This tempo was kept up throughout the game to leave the scores 13-12 at half-time in favour of the home side.
After the break both sides exchanged a try each with Boyne adding a fourth with 10 minutes left to take the lead at 22-20.
From here on in it was a race against the clock for Ardee/Dundalk who put in a huge effort to work towards the opposition try line.
Despite Boyne’s best efforts they could not withstand the constant attack and Derek Williams stretched out to score the game winning try.
This dramatic win should give the team great momentum heading into the Leinster League which begins next week.
