Dundalk Sharks put a disappointing start to their three games against Malahide behind them at the weekend and eventually won their two remaining matches with assured performances all round
The sharks were hit by a tough Malahide team for their first match and were found wanting.
Play was very tight and a few unforced errors let in three tries.
A solo try by Ronan McDonnell in the second half made it a 3-1 defeat.
The second match saw the sharks tighten their game and work better as a team and continue to defend well.
Four tries by Ronan McDonnell, Sam Malone, Conal O’Callaghan and James O’Connor without reply earned a well fought 4-0 win.
The third match was equally tough with neither side willing to surrender ground. Malahide took the lead with an early try but the sharks closed ranks and showed excellent support play resulting in a hat-trick of tries by Joseph Pheifer before half time.
Malahide came back strong with two more tries in the second half which were matched by tries from Sam Malone and James O’Connor to hand Dundalk a brilliant 5-3 win.
There were worthy performances by Lawrence Jones, Luke Andrews, Robert Malone and good committed play from Liam Dorian, Sean Leonard and Tadhg Dunne.
