The Dundalk Railway Heritage Society held a lecture on the town’s railway heritage on Saturday afternoon at the Oriel Centre Dundalk.

The lecture was presented by noted Irish Railway Historian Charles P Friel.

The lecture was an illustrated presentation featuring photographs of local railway interest some of which were shown for the first time.

Charles is a member of the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland and has presented lectures on Irish railways in Ireland and in the UK.

The talk was given in memory of the late Des Casey who was a founding member of the Dundalk Railway Heritage Society and served as chairman and Hon President for many years.

Des made a major contribution to the operation of the society.

He sadly passed away in August of 2022.
