The action in the Tuborg sponsored Dundalk Pool League got underway last week, with all teams hoping to make a good start to the season.

In Division Three, the newly formed Windmill Warriors travelled to play Avenue Inn Swifts and it was the home team who started best with Andy Gray beating Jemmy McGee 2-0 on two black ball fights.

The second match featured Glen Duffy and the Windmill captain Deaglan Lavery and it was Declan who held his nerve to win his match 2-0 and thus level the match.

Shane Garvey restored the lead for the Swifts when in a tactical affair he defeated Dave McKenna 2-0; however the scores were level again when Robbie Mulligan played some excellent pool to defeat Swifts captain Jason McConville 2-1.

The deciding match featured Andrew Mundow of Swifts and Colin Gray and it was Andrew who won the first frame with a nice five ball clearance. This seemed to spark life into Colin as he played some great pool to win the next two frames to complete a 2-1 victory, but more importantly a 3-2 victory for the league newcomers Windmill Warriors.

The Windmill captain Deaglan Lavery said after the match that he expects his team to improve greatly as the season progresses.

Another Division Three match featured two newcomers to the league, Fairways and Harrison’s Green.

It was Fairways captain Matthew Hoey who gave his team a dream start when he beat Sam McArdle 2-0; however the scores were level when Gerry McArdle beat Damien Connor 2-0.

The Fairways regained the lead when with some brilliant pool as Natasha Twormley beat Paul Johnson 2-0 and the Fairways sealed the victory when Paul Monahan beat Mickey Manning 2-1.
