Something that will light up the winter for sports fans is the return of dual racing at Dundalk Stadium on Friday, September 26.
This Friday night sees the resumption of floodlit horseracing, and it will be a permanent fixture every Friday night - with the exception of December 26 - right through to May, 15 2015.
Greyhound racing will also be held in conjunction with the programme, following immediately after the horse card, and will also have a stand-alone card every Saturday night.
Horse and greyhound racing is a great social occasion even for those with only a passing interest, and Dundalk Stadium’s top class facilities including dining are ideal for a family, group, club or work outing and are especially popular at Christmas.
The Friday night horse meetings commence at 6.15pm with a seven or eight race card followed by an eight race greyhound meeting, starting at 9.40pm, and is rounded off by music until 12.30am.
“We are looking forward to the start of the season and are delighted to be in a position to provide an extension to the flat racing programme in Ireland throughout the winter,” said Emma Meehan, Sales and Marketing Manager at the Stadium.
There are a number of feature meetings in the upcoming programme including the Diamond Stakes Group 3 on October 3, Star Appeal (October 10), Carlingford Stakes (October 17), Mercury Stakes (October 24) and the Cooley Stakes (October 31).
