Omeath to Carlingford Greenway to temporarily close ahead of arrival of Narrow Water Bridge

Louth County Council confirmed the Greenway will close for "number of weeks" during the summer months
A section of the Omeath to Carlingford Greenway is set to be temporarily closed ahead of the arrival of the Narrow Water Bridge Span.
The update came at the February meeting of Louth County Council, in which the local authority confirmed that the fixed-span bridge will is set to arrive from Belgium during the summer months.
David Jones, Director of Services with Louth County Council said "as a result of that arriving it will result in it having to be closed for a number of weeks at that location".
He also said that councillors would receive an update on the timeline and duration of the closure nearer the time.
Responding to a query from Independent councillor for Dundalk South Maeve Yore, Mr Jones confirmed that the project was progressing, and is still set to be delivered on time and on budget.
Sinn Féin councillor for Dundalk/Carlingford Antóin Watters said "it's good to see everything is progressing well" with the project.
Narrow Water Bridge, which will span the narrowest point of Carlingford Lough, and link Louth to Down is expected to be completed on schedule, by the end of 2027.
Louth County Council confirmed late last year, that nearly half of the construction works have already been completed.
The bridge will connect Cornamucklagh near Omeath, Co. Louth, and Narrow Water, near Warrenpoint, Co. Down
It is expected long to be 195 meters and accommodate vehicles, cyclists as well as pedestrians.
