Helen Martin, 53 Oakland Park, Dundalk, died peacefully at the Louth County Hospital on February 17, 2019, following a short illness.
Aged 78, she was formerly of Tallanstown, a daughter of the late Mary and Mick Grey. She was also predeceased by her brother, Terry and sister, Marie.
In 1968 Helen moved to Dundalk where she raised her loving family, daughters, Pamela, Sandra and Marie and sons, Alan and John.
She loved to go to bingo every Monday in the Redeemer and every Wednesday in the Clans.
She looked forward to the bingo every night.
Helen loved her back garden and planting flowers; it was her little sanctuary.
She enjoyed meeting people, young and old, for chats.
Indeed, many would go to Helen for comfort and advice. She was a great listener.
Helen will be missed dearly by her sons, daughters, brother, Patsy Grey, sisters, Frances Lane and Susan Burke, grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours.
After reposing at her residence, her remains were removed to Saint Peter and Paul’s Church, Tallanstown for funeral Mass.
Readings were given by Jim Murtagh and Niall Moran, and prayers of the faithful led by Alannah Conroy, Mary Hanratty, Elaine O’Reilly, Pauline Carter and Wendy Fox.
Gifts symbolising Helen’s life were brought to the altar by Colin Jordan, Hannah Jordan, Evan Ryan and Kerry Martin. These included a plaque to mark her retirement, her bingo board and crunchies, her favourite chocolate bar.
Music was provided by Olivia Finnegan.
Burial took place afterwards in Ballapousta Cemetery.
