The late Anthony Eaton
The death has taken place in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda on Sunday December 8th of Anthony (Tony) Eaton, Bellurgan, Dundalk surrounded by his family, in his 83rd year.
Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Catherine, brothers Pat and Michael and sister Mary. He will be sadly missed by his wife Eileen, sons Colin and David and daughter Sandra and wider family.
Tony was well known throughout the Cooley Peninsula and the wider north east through his career in the ESB and his membership of Greenore Golf Club.
Tony was actively involved in community life in Bellurgan. He was instrumental in the development of the new primary school in Bellurgan and Bellurgan United FC.
Tony’s family would like to thank the staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Cogaslann Pharmacy and Dr Charles Ijeh, The Square Medical.
The family appreciated all who sent letters, sympathy cards and flowers, those who attended Tony’s wake, particularly his ESB colleagues, the road stewards and Gerard and Annette Quinn Undertakers.
The funeral took place on Wednesday December 11th in St Mary’s Church, Lordship. Mass was celebrated by Fr Stephen Duffy PP assisted by Fr Pádraig Murphy.
The eulogy was read by family friend Peadar McParland. Music was provided by Olivia Finnegan and Róisín Crawley. Thank you to the past captains of Greenore Golf Club for the guard of honour at the church and the Principal and children of Bellurgan NS for the guard of honour at the school.
Tony’s Month’s Mind mass was held in St Mary’s Church, Lordship, on Sunday, 5th January.
