Ardee Castle
Louth County Council has welcomed the additional allocation of €1 million from the Rural Regeneration Development Fund (RRDF) to support the regeneration of Ardee Castle.
The funding, which was announced last week, is to support works including structural conservation and restoration of the castle’s historic tower; development of visitor access and interpretive features; public realm improvements and landscaping; and educational and community engagement initiatives.
This latest funding brings the total investment from the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht to €3,147,000. Louth County Council has also committed match funding to ensure the successful delivery of this important heritage project.
Louth County Council says it will now look to complete the tendering process for construction, with a view to appointing a contractor and commencing works in the near future.
The project is expected to act as a catalyst for further development in Ardee, with potential for additional support through national heritage grants and local partnerships.
