The Ardee Concert Intermediate Band played at the agm for the Society for Music Education in Ireland at DkIT Dundalk recently.

Their conductor was Mr John Gaynor who has brought this group to great success over the past four years.

The Ardee musicians performed alongside musicians from Music Generation Louth’s Junior Orchestra and Craobh Dhún Dealgan CCÉ in the beautiful Winter Garden of the Carroll Building, home of Ceol Oirghialla.

The Band played a very modern and uplifting programme introduced by Professor Adele Cummins Head of DkIT Music School.

The band thrilled the large audience with their performance of Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Other pieces ranged from Dynamite by Taio Cruz, Uprising by Muse, Lady Gaga’s The Edge of Glory and Pirates of the Carribean Soundtrack by Hans Zimmer

At the end of their performance, the new chair of the Society of Music Educators of Ireland Gwen Moore, thanked the band for their wonderful performance.

This performance was only the second public engagement for 14 new members to the Intermediate Band. The members were the first graduates from the newly formed Junior Band under the Baton of Kevin Reilly. They have done themselves, their families and the band proud.

“Well done to all the new members and we are in no doubt that the future of Ardee Concert Band is well and truly secure,” said PRO Sinéad Nutley.

The Intermediate and Junior bands will join the senior band on Sunday 4 August for the Turfman Festival Proms at Fair Green Ardee.
