Geraldine’s School of Speech and Drama is inviting members of the public to attend its annual production ‘A Fairytale Adventure’ at the Black Box Theatre in DkIT on May 25 and May 27.
The show features children aged between six and 14 and is a combination of all the best-loved fairytales with some ‘bad guys’ trying to change the end of the stories.
The full-length production of one hour and 15 minutes is a classic tale of good versus bad and will include musical theatre.
“The show will include some modern songs and some Disney-type characters. It’s a good entertaining piece featuring children from Dundalk and the rest of the county,” said School Director Geraldine Kieran.
Eleven-year-old Pierce McNee from Philipstown, Dunleer is playing Hansel, the lead character, while 14-year-old Craig McHugh, also from Philipstown is playing a character called Paddy Ginger. There are three Gretels played by Hannalore Mackle, Gemma Stewart, and Eve Tuite. The three ‘bad guys’ are Evan Kelly; Aoife Duffy; and Nina Tizbol.
“Evan’s been super this year. He’s playing ‘Smartie The Wolf’. This is our fourth production and everyone is really excited about performing it.
“I’m working on ‘A Fairytale Adventure’ with my former DkIT lecturer, Mark Fearon. It’s nice to be able to bring the show to a theatre based on my old college campus.”
Ticket prices for ‘A Fairytale Adventure’ are e12 standard and e10 concession. Tickets are available to buy on the night.
