TEAM Curves is busy raising funds for Relay for Life Dundalk 2011, a community celebration which honours current and former cancer patients, their families and friends.
A 100-strong group of supporters raised e670 by completing a 5km walk which started and finished outside Curves Club on the Coe’s Road on Saturday, September 10.
Team Curves also hosted a table quiz in Jimmy’s Bar on Park Street on Thursday, September 15 with 12 teams raising a total of e515 on the night.
Team Curves has extended its thanks to local businesses Johnny Morgans, Fitzpatricks, New Faces, XL, Luzzious, Kevin Matthews, and BC Electrics, for donating spot prizes.
“A special thank you goes out to Vincie Duffy, the proprietor of Jimmy’s Bar, for the venue, bar food vouchers, a bottle of Spirits and food on the night,” said Jane Smyth.
Relay for Life Dundalk 2011 is taking place in Building ‘D’, Xerox Technology Park, Dublin Road, Dundalk on Saturday, October 8 from 6pm.
Team Curves captain Karen Wynne will be on the main stage on the day for the warm up and the group will be manning a stall in the centre of the track for the entire event, which will focus on ‘Encouraging and Educating on the Importance of Early Detection of Cancer’.
Team Curves is inviting members of the public to take part in the 24 hour charity relay in support of the Irish Cancer Society.
