Dundalk artist proud to see portrait hung in The National Gallery

Talented Dundalk artist, Seán McGuill , is celebrating after his self-portrait was exhibited in the National Gallery of Ireland.

The 22-year-old's work was exhibited along with 24 other artist's portraits shortlisted for this year's Hennessy Portrait Prize.

Seán, who is from Bellurgan Point, is currently a final year student at the Limerick School of Art and Design (LSAD).

The artist-on-the-rise already has a few national and international shows under his belt – including group shows in Co Louth Museum and Kunsthaus LA54 in Berlin.

Proud parents Margaret and Joe attended the event at the prestigious gallery to cheer on their son. They were also joined by Seán's girlfriend Clíona.

The Hennessy Portrait Prize Exhibition will run at the National Gallery of Ireland, Dublin from November 25

The local artist's work has been selected for various awards including the John Shinnors Selection at the 2017 LSAD Drawing Awards, as well as the Limerick Lace Drawing Award in 2016 and the LSAD Drawing Awards in 2015.

Seán's work will be exhibited in the Hennessy Portrait Prize Exhibition at the National Gallery of Ireland, Dublin from November 25.
