Death of 12-year old girl in road collision in Newry

A 12-year old girl has died following a crash in Newry yesterday.

As is being reported by BBC News Northern Ireland today, the girl died after a crash between a beach buggy and a pick-up truck in Newry.

The PSNI say the girl was a passenger in the buggy when it collided with a black Toyota Hilux truck on Flagstaff Road at approximately 2.50pm on Saturday afternoon.

Police say a 14-year old girl who was driving the beach buggy at the time, sustained a broken leg and remains in hospital.

The driver of the truck was not injured in the collision.

The PSNI have made an appeal to anyone who may have been in the Flagstaff Road area at the time and witnessed the collision to contact them.
