Local man set to cycle from Limerick to London for charity

Dundalk resident Ryan Walker is set to take part in a 700km cycle for charity.

The cycle, which will originate in Limerick and end in London, will take place across five days in June. All proceeds from the event are in aid of the Make A Wish Foundation.

“The idea initially started by a suggestion from some of my work colleagues at Northern Trust Company,” says Ryan.

“The plan was to cycle from the offices in Limerick to London over a five-day period in June. There are ten people taking part in our Limerick office but I was the only one from the Dublin branch who was brave enough!"

“While this was organised by people in work, it's not an official event by the company. All expenses - such as biking equipment, travel and accommodation - will be met individually by ourselves."

“None of the fundraising funds will be used to meet any of those costs."

“I selected the 'Make A Wish Foundation' as my own charity of choice as it is a fantastic service which goes the extra mile to make a wish come true for children who are suffering from life-threatening conditions."

“I am planning various events to raise funds in the coming months, from street collections to bag-packing at supermarkets. I am hoping local companies will be so kind as to make some donations which can be raffled or auctioned to raise additional funds."

“It will be a challenging cycle, but it will all be worthwhile if the funds raised make even one person's life that little bit better.”
