Disney digital chief talks to Dundalk Grammar School students

Dundalk Grammar School Senior Shield joint winners Zoe Hallahan, Emma Bailey, John Bennett and Jamie Rijnders received their award from Una Fox, vice president of Digital Marketing at the Walt Disney

Dundalk Grammar School held its annual Prize Day in Finnamore Hall, the school's multi-purpose hall, recently. The school was honoured to have Ms Una Fox as guest speaker for the occasion.

She is the vice president of digital marketing at the Walt Disney company and board member of the CoderDojo Foundation.

She is also a past pupil of Dundalk Grammar School.

In an inspirational speech, Ms Fox talked about her wonderful experience at Dundalk Grammar School and said that she wouldn't be where she is now without the advice of Headmaster Reverend Black.

After completing her Leaving Certificate she went on studying the arts, with English and French as her main subjects.

She is self-trained in computer science and her job today is to find the best way to reach people digitally in order to promote Disney productions.

Young people nowadays spend a lot of time using computers, iPads, iPhones, Ms Fox said, but stressed that collaboration, knowing how to lead, and having empathy for others is the way forward.

The Headmaster, Mr Jonathan Graham, thanked Una for her exceptional speech and took the opportunity to express his sincere thanks to all members of the school community for their continued commitment and support of Dundalk Grammar School.

The prizes presented on the day saw students rewarded for excellence across the whole spectrum of school life. This included academic prowess, community service, application and progress, sports and musical achievements.

Many thanks to Fyffes PLC  and Total Produce PLC for their continued support of the prize day.
