Dundalk FC fitness coach Graham Byrne has joined Pete McGrath's Louth senior team management in a similar role.

Byrne, fitness manager at DCU Sport, has been heralded for his impact at Dundalk FC while working alongside manager Stephen Kenny. Credited for getting the players into an incredible physical condition, Byrne's stock has continually risen during his time at Oriel Park and now Louth manager McGrath has recruited the Dubliner.

He is understood to have undertaken several sessions with the Louth team in preparation for the O'Byrne Cup and National League in early 2018.

Dundalk FC are set to resume pre-season training in early January and it remains unclear if Byrne intends to juggle the roles. However, with the Oriel Park side's new schedule involving morning-based training, it could be possible for him to continue in both capacities.

Lilywhites boss Kenny has told The Democrat that he has no qualms over Byrne's involvement with Louth GAA. The Wee County begin their 2018 campaign at home to Longford on December 30.
