Gardai appeal for witnesses after tragic fatal collision in Galway

Witness Appeal - Fatal Road Traffic Collision, Galway City, Friday 15th March 2024

Gardaí are investigating a fatal single-vehicle road traffic collision that occurred on the morning of Friday 15th March 2024 in Galway city.

Shortly before 7am, a car collided with a wall and entered the water in the Menlo area.

A female front-seat passenger, aged in her 30s, was taken to University Hospital Galway in a critical condition. She was pronounced deceased earlier today (Monday 25th March 2024).

The driver, a man in his 40s, was also taken to hospital at the time.

The road was closed for a time and a technical examination of the scene by Forensic Collision Investigators was conducted.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Menlo area of Galway city between 6am and 7am on Friday 15th March 2024 are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
