A mum of two who pulled another woman by the hair, had to be separated by security, Dundalk District Court heard last week.

The court was told the injured party and her mother were shopping in Tesco Extra when Mary McAreavey (24) of St. Oliver's Park, Kilsaran approached them with another person on April 19th last year.

The defendant made admissions and CCTV corroborated events, Judge Eirinn McKiernan heard.

The defence solicitor said her client had never been in court before.

She added 'there was a build up to it' and her client who was emotional had over reacted however, she stressed there had been no further contact with the other parties.

After hearing the defendant had no previous convictions, Judge McKiernan said she hoped Ms. McAreavey had learned a lesson.

The judge applied the Probation of Offenders Act and told her "to have no contact with that lady ever again".
