Cuchulainn Gaels made it three wins on the spin in the Louth GAA John O'Neill Sand and Gravel Division Three League when they had a ten-point victory over Dowdallshill at St Brigid’s Park on Thursday night.

JP Elmore scored the only goal of the game for the Omeath men, who are now on seven points after an impressive run of form.

That goal came in an opening half that was dominated by the Gaels, and at the break, they had established a 1-5 to no score lead.

Lannleire 6-9 Nh Malachi 1-6

Lannleire are showing no signs of slowing down in their pursuit of Division 3 honours as they continued their fine start with a comfortable win over Nh Malachi on Friday night.

Darragh Malone led the charge for the winners with an impressive haul of 3-2, while Bob Murphy also bagged two goals on the night.

The opening period saw Malone twice hit the net while Murphy added a third goal from the penalty spot to see the Dunleer men open up a 3-3 to 0-3 advantage at the break.

The home side continued to dominate after the restart as Malone completed his hat-trick, while Murphy and Ian Mulroy also found the net. Killian Gregory also played his part with five points over the hour.

O’Connells 4-14 Wolfe Tones 3-8

O’Connell’s remain neck-and-neck with Lannleire at the top of Division 3 after their sixth win of the season came at the expense of Wolfe Tones in Drogheda on Saturday night.

Despite a battling display from the hosts throughout, the Bellingham side had the edge over the hour, and two goals in each half ensured that they made the journey home with a deserved win.

The first half produced an abundance of goalmouth action as the Tones found the net through Sean Flanagan, Paddy Fanning and Chris Cudden.

However, that treble wasn’t enough to take a lead into the break as the O’Connells responded with goals from Evan Kearney and Sean Cairns to lead by 2-6 to 3-2 at the interval.

The visitors upped the tempo after the restart, and goals from Niall Conlon and Bernard Osborne saw them take control on a night when Robert Quigley and Jackie Agnew were among the points.

The Tones were unable to respond but battled to the end with Eoghan Brennan, Dwayne Leavy and Eoghan Clinton adding points.

O'Connells: Jonathan Brennan; Alan McGovern, Jack McGeough, Adam Flynn; Rian McKeever, Conor Culligan, Joshua Horwell; Justin Cooney, Sean Cairns 1-0; Jackie Agnew 0-2, Robert Quigley 0-3, Conor Clerkin; Bernard Obsorne 1-2, Niall Conlon 1-5, Evan Kearney 1-2.

Nh Fionnbarra 5-21 Glyde Rangers 0-7

Nh Fionnbarra remain just two points off the top of the Division 3 table after another comfortable win, this time away to Glyde Rangers on Saturday night.

The home side got off to the perfect start with a very well taken two-point free from beyond the 45m line against a tricky wind, but unfortunately for the Tallanstown men, that was as good as it got as the Barrs took over and completely dominated the game.

Cillian McQuillan got the visitors off the mark with a two-pointer, and Matthew O’Reilly followed up with a well-taken goal to put his side very much on top.

Glyde Rangers were finding it difficult to get a foothold in the game, and after Conor Osborne added a second goal, the floodgates opened, and at the break, the Barrs were leading by 2-12 to 0-4.

The Togher Men played the second half against the breeze, but this had little effect as they continued to dominate. Jack Murtagh found the net just after the restart to increase the lead, while Cillian McQuillan ran through to add a fourth soon after.

In the dying moments, Niall McCreesh put the icing on the cake when he fired in the fifth goal to complete the win.

Naomh Fionnbarra: Fionn McQuillan; Adam Kirwan, Ronan Callaghan, Máirtín Murphy; Chris McGlynn, Josh Crosbie, Andrew O’Reilly (0-2); Matthew O’Reilly (1-0), Stephen O’Reilly (0-1); Conor Osborne (1-1), Cillian McQuillan (1-4, 2p), Pádraig Butterly; Jack Murtagh (1-3), Ciarán Markey (0-7), Niall McCreesh (1-3).

St Nicholas 4-13 Sean McDermotts 2-7

St Nicholas moved further away from the foot of the table with a second win of the season at home to Sean McDermotts on Saturday evening.

In what proved to be an entertaining encounter, it was the Nicks who always had the upper hand, and they made it count with the help of two goals in each half.

Although the result leaves the McDermotts still waiting on their first win, they will take some comfort from an improved display that saw Kevin McMahon and Emmet Duffy find the net.

Hayden Quinn and Fionn Meagher raised green flags in the first half for the Nicks as they eased into a 2-6 to 1-3 lead. It could have been even better, but Meagher also had a penalty saved.

Meagher did make up for that miss after the break when he scored his side's third goal from the spot, while Cebhan Houshidiari added the fourth in the closing moments.

St Nicholas: Declan Heeney; Senan Meagher, Donal Carr, Aaron Flanagan; Cebhan Houshidari 1-0, Ruairi Hanlon, Sam Reilly; Cian Flynn, Sean Hoey; Leon Quinn 0-4, Hayden Quinn 1-5, Fionn Meagher 2-1; Shane Downey 0-2, Ross Brady 0-1, Darren Thornton.

Subs: Jack Melia, Cian Martin, Ronny Ruikis.

Na Piarsaigh Blackrock 1-14 Annaghminnon Rovers 1-8

Na Piarsaigh Blackrock picked up a welcome victory when they recorded a six-point success away to Annaghminnon Rovers on Friday night.

The home side went into the game looking to get back to winning ways after losing to Westerns the previous week, but despite an encouraging start, they were unable to sustain those efforts.

With the wind in their backs, Rovers had the better of the early exchanges with points from James O’Connor (2), Conor Russell and Dylan McArdle, followed by a goal from O’Connor that saw their side lead by 1-4 to 0-3.

However, the game turned in the closing stages of the half as Na Piarsaigh found the net through a Conall Shields penalty and added Jody Mackin's two-pointer on their way to a 1-6 to 1-4 lead at the break.

The Dundalk men never looked back in the second half as they picked off their points to remain in full control as Mackin finished with five points, while Jamie Fealy, Robert Murphy and Calum Smith were also on target.

James O’Connor led the fight for Rovers with 1-2, while Dwayne Markey added three for the hosts.

Na Piarsaigh Blackrock: Jordan Mackin 0-5; Tiernan Rogers, Darren McElhinney, Stephen McGuinness; Fionn Tipping, Conall Shields 1-0, Calum Smith 0-1; Shane Roddy, Conall Myles 0-1; Tommy Muckian 0-1, Matt McLoon, Paul Mallon; Jamie Fealy 0-4, Robert Murphy 0-2, Michael Woods.

Clan na Gael 3-14 Westerns 0-8

Clan na Gael bounced back from their defeat to Nh Fionnbarra on their previous outing as they brushed aside the challenge of Westerns in this Division 3 clash in Dundalk on Sunday afternoon.

Goals from Liam O’Hanlon, Billy Smith and Jason Cullen did the damage for the home side as they denied the Westerns the chance to make it back-to-back wins.

The home side got off to the perfect start when O’Hanlon opened the scoring with the first goal of the game.

Boosted by that score, the Clans continued to dominate, and points from Craig Long, Gavin Gaffey and Jason Cullen helped them lead by 1-6 to 0-4 at the break.

The hosts pushed on after the restart and extended their lead through O’Hanlon’s two-pointer before sub Billy Smith added the second goal.

The Reaghstown side were unable to make any real impression on the scoreboard, and the Clans completed victory in the closing stages when Cullen fired in the third goal.

Clan na Gael: Sean Smith; Ellis O’Carroll, Gerard Curran, Conor Smith; Aodhan Kirk, Conor Noonan, Craig Long 0-2; Robbie Curran 0-1, Jack Callan; Gavin Gaffey 0-1, Jason Cullen 1-2, Stephen Coleman; Liam O’Hanlon 1-4, Shane Carroll, Mark McGeown 0-1.
